Freya Jaffke compiled statements about play and related topics to serve as study material for the conference. Playing, Learning, Meeting the Other collects five of the lectures that were given at the 2005 conference on the themes of play, development and learning, and the all-important encounter with the other. Together, they provide important insights that can inspire and inform our work with young children.

About the Author

Freya Jaffke was born in 1937. She worked at Reutlingen kindergarten in Germany for many years and now lectures throughout the world in teacher training colleges. She is the author of fourteen books on children’s play and development and has sold over a quarter of a million copies worldwide.
