To be a teacher and to teach children and youngsters remains a wonderful profession. It never becomes dull or boring, but it is also a professional life under pressure. Teaching involves a myriad of demands, daily professionalism, and demands sound results, while also requiring attention to the individual needs and development of the students, as well as helping parents to understand their children. All of this demands a multifaceted personality and the development of new talents.

Teachers constantly serve others, leaving little time for oneself. Working in the teaching profession can easily lead to a loss of balance between inner needs and the needs of one’s students, parents, and the school organism as a whole. About the Author

Christof Wiechert was born in The Hague and studied education and geography, and worked for thrity years as a Waldorf teacher in The Hague. He co-founded the Waldorf teacher seminar in the Netherlands and is a board member of the Anthroposophical Society in the Netherlands. From 1999 to 2010, he was head of the Pedagogical Section at the Goetheanum, and remains active for the Free University at the Goetheanum. Christof dedicates himself to pedagogical and anthroposophic topics at home and abroad. He is married and has five children.
