The Listening Ear gives teachers an understanding of speech training through specially selected exercises. The aim is to help develop clear speaking in the classroom and to assist those concerned with the creative power of speech as a teaching tool. The author looks at the links between speech and child development, the speech organs, the effects of artificially produced sound on speech development, rhythm, meter, and the sound groups.
About the Author
Audrey McAllen is an English Waldorf teacher who has spent a lifetime developing ways to help children who have learning difficulties. She based her work on study of Rudolf Steiner’s indications regarding spiritual aspects of human development and on her observation of and practical work with many children.
