The twelve holy nights between Christmas and Epiphany on January 6th offer a wonderful time of year for spiritual meditation and deepening.

In the ancient Norwegian folk legend of Olaf Åsteson, in the darkness of winter he experienced an initiation into the great secrets of existence. His experience helped him shoulder responsibility for his task here on Earth, giving him renewed vision and decisiveness.

Frans Lutters has led numerous workshops on this theme, and his insights are collected in the commentary and the meditations in this book, alongside the text of the Dream Song.

About the Author

Frans Lutters has been a Waldorf teacher in the Netherlands for more than thirty years. He is the author of Who Is Harry Potter?; The Grail Mystery and the Seven Liberal Arts; and An Exploration into the Destiny of the Waldorf School Movement.

Bernard Lievegoed was a distinguished physician, educator, and industrial psychologist. He founded the NPI, which pioneered new approaches to business management. For his book Man on the Threshold, Professor Lievegoed was awarded the Golden Quill literary award of the Netherlands Publishers’ Association. He died in 1992.

Frans Lutters has been a Waldorf teacher in the Netherlands for more than thirty years. He is the author of Who Is Harry Potter?; The Grail Mystery and the Seven Liberal Arts; and An Exploration into the Destiny of the Waldorf School Movement.

Philip Mees was born in Holland and has lived in the United States since 1969. He is a retired bank officer and was for many years a trustee of the Rudolf Steiner Foundation (RSF Social Finance, San Francisco CA). He is a long-time student of Rudolf Steiner’s work and one of his particular interests is the evolution of human consciousness through the ages as expressed in art, as well as in human actions in everyday life today. His principal retirement occupation is translating Dutch anthroposophical books, in which his ably assisted by his wife Linda Connell. Linda and he live in Glendale CA.
