A standard in Waldorf teacher training, this is a different look at preschool, school-aged, and teenage stages of development in the child. In particular, his chapters on “the will” help to flesh out an area of Steiner-speak that can be difficult to understand. The importance of the feeling life in educating the will is emphasized. This is a book for parents and teachers who are looking for another quality resource on “the whole child.”

Charming stories. Will need to make clear to a child that these are fanciful and not part of the biblical birth narrative of Jesus.

This is one of the most fascinating pieces of writing by Rudolf Steiner. I can’t recommend it enough. You might be surprised at many of the emphatic statements and explanations that Steiner makes regarding the origin of religions and the true nature of the human being. His summaries of the philosophers leading up to his own time are utterly unique and clearly drawn, giving us a new way to conceptualize the ideas and the impulses behind them. This is a must-read.

One of Steiner’s masterpieces. Many of his descriptions of the relationship between thinking and the sensory world are – in my opinion – improvements over the language he used a few years earlier in The Philosophy of Freedom. I think this book (along with a couple that followed on its heels) can be a great way to grasp the core of Steiner’s insights.
