Moved by Destiny: Life Stories of Social Engagement: Anthroposophy and Social Reform

What can anthroposophy, a spiritual movement started by Rudolf Steiner more than a hundred years ago, offer an ailing world? Much, very much, it turns out.

This volume is a collection of inspiring and fascinating biographical and autobiographical essays by and about people who have successfully applied, in different ways, the fundamental insights of Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual science to social and practical life: in education, agriculture, business, caring for others, working towards peace, and more.

From transforming a business, to starting one of the first CSAs in the United States, to working with inner city youth in Detroit or working for peace in war-torn countries, each writer relates their inner and outer journey, revealing the threads of destiny which led each person to engage with the needs and suffering of the world.

The essays collected here by Christopher Schaefer are meant to help and inspire the healing of social life now, out of the life stories of individuals who have not only been “moved” by social concerns, and destiny, but have themselves taken action and moved things forward.
