Storytelling with Children
In Storytelling with Children, Nancy Mellon offers a joyful and practical guide to becoming a confident storyteller at home and in the classroom.
Telling stories awakens wonder and creates meaningful moments — at bedtime, around the fire, or on rainy afternoons. Drawing from years of experience in Waldorf education and therapeutic storytelling, Mellon provides clear methods and encouragement for parents, teachers, and caregivers who wish to enrich children’s lives through spoken stories.
This book includes guidance on:
-
Creating a listening space
-
Using the rhythms of the day to inspire stories
-
Transforming traditional tales and creating new ones
-
Bringing personal and family stories to life
-
Learning stories by heart through inner pictures and movement
-
Finding the right tale for each child and occasion
Published in association with the Alliance for Childhood, this beloved guide emphasizes storytelling as a living art — one that strengthens imagination, deepens relationships, and nourishes the inner life of the child.
A treasured resource for families, Waldorf teachers, homeschoolers, and anyone wishing to rediscover the magic of oral storytelling.
