The Archangel Michael
The Archangel Michael is an exploration of the concept of the existence of a spiritual hierarchy, and, in particular, the relationship of one member of this hierarchy – the Archangel Michael – to the present phase of world evolution. The Archetypal image living in the human psyche, of Michael’s struggle with the dragon, is an image of a real battle being waged on earth – the battle between good and evil. Rudolf Steiner called for a renewal of the celebration of the festival of Michaelmas on September 29, as evidence of a conscious acknowledgment of the struggle.
In the early part of the twentieth century, in many lectures and books, the great Austrian philosopher, Rudolf Steiner, called for explorations into Spiritual Science. Based on the view that all matter is the result of spiritual activity, he emphasized that all our efforts to find answers to the world’s riddles will be of no avail until the spiritual foundation of the universe is given credence. -from the back cover
