The task of education is to help young people learn how to realize their full potential. Yet how can this be achieved if so much within those young people remains untouched and undiscovered? To further the development of students, it is not just a question of what one teaches, but how and when. The object of this booklet is to outline the what along with indications of the other aspects.

The trend of today’s education has been moving toward one-sided cultivation of the intellect. Manual skills and, artistic achievements of the imagination have been less attractive. Even in intellectual fields there has been one-sided development, with the object of producing specialists in one field or another. Although specialists are necessary in today’s world, specialization should follow the acquisition of broad, general knowledge and experience of the world as a whole.

Roy Wilkinson was an indefatigable teacher of children, lecturer, author, and inspirer of many people in the Waldorf movement in the UK and abroad, right up to his death at the age of 90 in 2007.
