The lives of the saints, throughout the ages, have inspired admiration and worship. Stories and legends of those men and women, with their extraordinary devotion to God and humanity, were passed down from generation to generation as inspirational tales for adults.

The stories of these remarkable people provide richly inspiring material for children’s reading and listening. This selection of tales and legends comes from the writer’s many years of teaching children, taking into account the stories that have provided enjoyment and stimulated questions for young listeners.

The stories are suitable for children aged between about seven and eleven. The book includes over forty saints, ranging from well-known heroes like St. Francis and Joan of Arc, to less known but equally colorful characters from a wide range of periods and places.

About the Author

Siegwart Knijpenga was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and attended the Waldorf school in The Hague. He studied for the priesthood at the Seminary of The Christian Community in Stuttgart and was ordained in 1962. He has served congregations in Hamburg and Amsterdam, among others, and was Lenker of The Christian Community in the Netherlands for eight years. His books include Stories of the Saints, a collection for children.
