The Fulfillment of Old Age is Dr. Norbert Glas’s tender, candid look at the late phase of life — the changes in the physical body and senses, the gradual shifts in life forces, and the meaning that becomes available when old age is met with attention. Glas, an anthroposophical physician who ran a nursing home in Stroud, writes for both elders and the younger generations who care for them.

The Fulfillment of Old Age

Dr. Glas discusses with warmth and candor the onset of old age and various afflictions related to the changes in the physical body and senses that occur with the gradual decline in the life forces. He works mainly toward establishing an awareness of the spirit that can shine through increasingly as the physical forces gradually wear themselves out. He offers an inspiring message to the elderly: growing old can become a light-filled culmination of their lives, in personal satisfaction and happiness, and in finding their proper places in society.

What Dr. Glas has to say will also be interesting to the young and middle-aged and will help create better understanding between young and old, leading to a fuller participation in life’s relationships.

The Fulfillment of Old Age sits alongside Schaefer and Gierlach’s Elder Flowering as one of the few biographical work texts that addresses the post-63 years directly. Where Elder Flowering gathers practitioners’ lived experiences, Glas writes from decades of medical care for elders. Available immediately as an eBook download.
