The Philosophy of Freehood: A Manual for Developing Organic-Living Thinking and for Opening of the Heart-Intelligence
This New Thinking Institute translation of Rudolf Steiner’s Die Philosophie der Freiheit is based on the groundbreaking work of George O’Neil, the man who decoded Rudolf Steiner’s organic-living thinking. Previous translators have titled the book The Philosophy of Freedom (Wilson), The Philosophy of Spiritual Activity (Lindeman), or more recently Intuitive Thinking as a Spiritual Path (Lipson).
This edition contains for the first time the organic thought-forms for each of the fifteen chapters discovered by George O’Neil. Each sentence is colored according to the four levels of the organic thinking. Also there is a comprehensive study guide to help readers learn Rudolf Steiner’s organic thinking and super-power meditations.
This edition has the new title The Philosophy of Freehood. “Freehood” is ability to keep your thinking moving and to see the world without biases of past experience. Steiner called this new thinking Uber-logical thinking because of the clarity, soul-warmth, and energy it gives the practitioner.
About the Author
Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925) was born in the small village of Kraljevec, Austro-Hungarian Empire (now in Croatia), where he grew up (see right). As a young man, he lived in Weimar and Berlin, where he became a well-published scientific, literary, and philosophical scholar, known especially for his work with Goethe’s scientific writings. At the beginning of the twentieth century, he began to develop his early philosophical principles into an approach to systematic research into psychological and spiritual phenomena. Formally beginning his spiritual teaching career under the auspices of the Theosophical Society, Steiner came to use the term Anthroposophy (and spiritual science) for his philosophy, spiritual research, and findings. The influence of Steiner’s multifaceted genius has led to innovative and holistic approaches in medicine, various therapies, philosophy, religious renewal, Waldorf education, education for special needs, threefold economics, biodynamic agriculture, Goethean science, architecture, and the arts of drama, speech, and eurythmy. In 1924, Rudolf Steiner founded the General Anthroposophical Society, which today has branches throughout the world. He died in Dornach, Switzerland.
Mark Riccio teaches the dynamic forms in Steiner’s basic books online (thenewthinkinginstitute.com) and writes articles on how a fresh understanding of Steiner’s etheric thinking can enhance our present day understanding of Steiner’s work including Waldorf education. Mark attended the Anthroposophical Studien Seminar in Stuttgart with Frank Teichmann, studied with Florin Lowndes, and is currently working on providing accurate translations of Steiner’s books for the purpose of etheric study. The Logik of the Heart: The Organic Templates of Spiritual Writers, Rudolf Steiner and the Philosophy of Freehood covers the basics of Steiner’s new thinking.
