Classes 5–8 (Ages 11–14)

Waldorf curriculum resources for Classes 5 through 8 address the middle school years when students ages 11 to 14 develop independent feeling and causal thinking. These approximately 80 titles guide class teachers through the rich content of the upper elementary Waldorf curriculum.

Key themes include ancient civilizations for history; botany, zoology, physics, and chemistry as age-appropriate sciences; freehand geometry and algebra; and increasingly independent writing. Charles Kovacs’s classroom-ready narratives, David Mitchell’s curriculum overviews, and Jamie York’s mathematics resources are among the most widely used titles. These resources build on Classes 1–4 and prepare students for Classes 9–12.

Designed for Waldorf class teachers navigating pre-adolescent development, and equally valuable for homeschooling families following a Waldorf middle-school curriculum.
