Poetry, Verses & Meditations
Poetry, verses, and meditations form the contemplative heart of anthroposophic literary culture. Rudolf Steiner composed hundreds of verses for specific occasions, seasons, and meditative practices — most notably the Calendar of the Soul, a cycle of 52 weekly verses guiding the practitioner through the year’s breathing rhythm between inner concentration and outer engagement with nature.
This collection of approximately 50 titles includes translations and commentaries on the Calendar of the Soul, the Foundation Stone Meditation of 1923, and Steiner’s verses for the days of the week. Works by Christian Morgenstern and Albert Steffen bring additional voices. Anthologies suited to speech formation practice and Waldorf morning circle are also included.
For novels, see Novels & Spiritual Fiction. The Speech, Drama & Storytelling category offers resources on the spoken performance of poetry.
