Lesson Journals & Form Drawing

Lesson journals and form drawing resources are practical classroom tools central to the Waldorf teaching method. In Waldorf schools, students create their own illustrated main lesson books rather than using standard textbooks — and form drawing, a discipline unique to Steiner education, develops spatial awareness, concentration, and aesthetic sense through the freehand practice of geometric and organic forms.

This section of approximately 30 titles includes Ernst Schuberth’s and Laura Embrey-Stine’s form drawing guides, examples of student main lesson books for teacher reference, and instructional manuals on the art of blackboard drawing — another distinctive Waldorf teaching practice in which the teacher creates large chalk illustrations to accompany each lesson. These resources complement the grade-specific sections of the Waldorf Curriculum and the Subject Books collection.

Designed for Waldorf class teachers, teacher trainees learning the art of lesson presentation, and homeschooling parents integrating form drawing and main lesson books into their practice.
